WEEKLY DATA
What moved on the App Store: week of 20 July 2026
· 7 min read
News charts are the fastest-moving surface Apple publishes, because the thing driving them is happening outside the store. The UK's ran hard this week. This is the Week of Jul 20, 2026 run: we snapshot the charts in the US, UK and Turkey every day, across all 25 categories and three chart types, and diff them over a seven-day window against each app's most recent review sample. 222 scored ideas.
The biggest climbs
Chart movement is a two-point diff, so it needs two days of history and nothing else. No estimates, no modelling. These are the largest free-chart jumps in the window:
- Feux de Forêt+94
#98 → #4 · News · UK · free top 100
- Leera - Reading Best Webnovels+88
#95 → #7 · Magazines & Newspapers · US · free top 100

#92 → #7 · Weather · TR · free top 100

What it costs to enter a top 100
We model an entry wall for every category and storefront: roughly how many ratings an app needs before it can hold a top 100 slot. Pick a storefront below; these are the cheapest doors each one had open this run.

- Developer Tools992 ratings
164 charted competitors, 7 of the top 10 grossing apps have under 5,000 ratings
- Medical7,116 ratings
187 charted competitors, 4 of the top 10 grossing apps have under 5,000 ratings
- Shopping19,130 ratings
197 charted competitors, 2 of the top 10 grossing apps have under 5,000 ratings
- Food & Drink26,554 ratings
194 charted competitors, 2 of the top 10 grossing apps have under 5,000 ratings
- Navigation35,716 ratings
163 charted competitors, 1 of the top 10 grossing apps have under 5,000 ratings
Same store, same week, and the widest gap in the run is 2,163,877 ratings for Games in the US against 30 for Developer Tools in Turkey. Picking the storefront is a bigger decision than picking the feature, and almost nobody treats it as one.
The same category is priced three different ways:
- Shopping: about 19,130 ratings in the US, about 48 in Turkey, a 399x gap.
- Social Networking: about 384,993 ratings in the US, about 1,331 in Turkey, a 289x gap.
- News: about 510,463 ratings in the US, about 2,056 in Turkey, a 248x gap.
Charting, and hated
A chart position says an app has distribution. It says nothing about whether the people inside it are happy, and the gap between those two signals is where the openings are. Counts are how many of the sampled reviewers said the same thing.

What scored highest
Every idea is scored 0–100 on demand, winnability, monetization, feasibility and momentum, with a penalty for picking a fight with a giant. The scoring engine is public, weights included, so you can disagree with a number rather than take it on faith.

What this run cost
Building in public means the bill too. This run took 3,151,480 model tokens across 24 categories, 48 agents and 4.8 hours of agent time, about 14,196 tokens per scored idea. 20% of those tokens went on retries, which is the number worth watching: it is what tells me a stage is quietly half-working.

Check it yourself
Weekly runs go to subscribers, but a complete monthly run is published free and in full: all 25 categories, all three storefronts, every score and the evidence behind it. Older monthly runs land in the archive as they age out. If you only want one number, the keyword checker is free and needs no account.
