WEEKLY DATA
What moved on the App Store: week of 27 July 2026
· 7 min read
The interesting climbs are rarely the ones at the top. They are the apps entering a top 100 for the first time, in categories nobody is watching. This is the Week of Jul 27, 2026 run: daily chart snapshots across the US, UK and Turkey, all 25 categories and three chart types, diffed over a seven-day window and read against each app's most recent review sample. 220 ideas came out scored.
The biggest climbs
Chart movement is a two-point diff, so it needs two days of history and nothing else. No estimates, no modelling. These are the largest free-chart jumps in the window:
- LOFT Living+72
#100 → #28 · Lifestyle · US · free top 100
- Muzz: Where Muslims Marry+72
#93 → #21 · Lifestyle · TR · free top 100
- Common App+70
#74 → #4 · Education · US · free top 100
- ForeFlight Mobile EFB+68
#99 → #31 · Weather · TR · free top 100
- MEBİ+68
#92 → #24 · Education · TR · free top 100

What it costs to enter a top 100
We model an entry wall for every category and storefront: roughly how many ratings an app needs before it can hold a top 100 slot. Pick a storefront below; these are the cheapest doors each one had open this run.

- Developer Tools995 ratings
163 charted competitors, 7 of the top 10 grossing apps have under 5,000 ratings
- Medical10,586 ratings
189 charted competitors, 4 of the top 10 grossing apps have under 5,000 ratings
- Food & Drink26,726 ratings
195 charted competitors, 1 of the top 10 grossing apps have under 5,000 ratings
- Navigation32,624 ratings
164 charted competitors, 1 of the top 10 grossing apps have under 5,000 ratings
- Shopping36,544 ratings
197 charted competitors, 3 of the top 10 grossing apps have under 5,000 ratings
Same store, same week, and the widest gap in the run is 2,767,870 ratings for Games in the US against 52 for Shopping in Turkey. Picking the storefront is a bigger decision than picking the feature, and almost nobody treats it as one.
The same category is priced three different ways:
- Shopping: about 36,544 ratings in the US, about 52 in Turkey, a 703x gap.
- News: about 551,916 ratings in the US, about 1,432 in Turkey, a 385x gap.
- Social Networking: about 385,331 ratings in the US, about 1,356 in Turkey, a 284x gap.
Charting, and hated
A chart position says an app has distribution. It says nothing about whether the people inside it are happy, and the gap between those two signals is where the openings are. Counts are how many of the sampled reviewers said the same thing.

What scored highest
Every idea is scored 0–100 on demand, winnability, monetization, feasibility and momentum, with a penalty for picking a fight with a giant. The scoring engine is public, weights included, so you can disagree with a number rather than take it on faith.

What this run cost
Building in public means the bill too. This run took 7,082,173 model tokens across 25 categories, 61 agents and 13.0 hours of agent time, about 32,192 tokens per scored idea. 32% of those tokens went on retries, which is the number worth watching: it is what tells me a stage is quietly half-working.
